Russian President Vladimir Putin has stressed that the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 should lead to the recognition of the Islamic Republics right to the enrichment of uranium for peaceful purposes on Iranian soil.President Putin made the remark in a telephone conversation with Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on Monday.
During the conversation, both leaders discussed the developments regarding the recent nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 states Russia, China, Britain, France, the US and Germany.
In their last round of talks before a November 24 deadline, Iran and the six countries wrapped up a week of closed-door nuclear negotiations in Vienna, Austria, on Monday.
The two sides decided to extend their discussions for seven more months in the search for a comprehensive agreement that would end a 12-year dispute on Irans peaceful nuclear work after they missed the Monday midnight deadline set by the negotiating sides themselves.
They agreed that the interim deal they signed in the Swiss city of Geneva last November will remain in place during the course of the new negotiations until July 1, 2015.
During the Monday phone conversation, the Russian president said that, during the Vienna talks, the two sides had little time to strike a deal.
Rouhani, for his part, hailed Moscows active role in the Vienna negotiations, expressing hope that a comprehensive agreement would soon be clinched with Russias help.
