Rouhani: Iran, Russia to reach highest regional cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani praised the level of Tehran-Moscow cooperation, particularly in economic sphere, stressing that mutual cooperation between the two sides will be promoted more than ever.
The expansion of economic exchanges between Iran and Russia, especially in the areas of oil and trade, will soon boost mutual cooperation between the two sides to the highest regional level, Rouhani said in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin late on Monday.
He also commented on nuclear cooperation between the two countries, including recent agreements on the construction of two power plants in Iran, and said Iran-Russia cooperation in the area of peaceful nuclear energy have left a positive impact on the expansion of economic ties between the two sides.

The Iranian president went on to say that Tehran-Moscow cooperation has also left a positive impact not only on the scientific and technological relations between the two nations, but also on the international scene.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani touched upon the regional developments, and stated that cooperation and interaction among regional countries, particularly between Iran and Russia, has hindered the advances of terrorists in the region.

He also pointed to the latest round of negotiations between Iran and six world powers over Tehrans peaceful nuclear program, and stressed that Iran and Russia have actively participated in the talks.

Rouhani also expressed the hope that the nuclear negotiations would yield results in the near future and a comprehensive deal would be reached with Russia's assistance, and underlined that the deal will serve the interests of the region and the world.

The Russian president, for his part, said that in the recent nuclear talks in Vienna, the two sides had not enough time to reach a comprehensive deal.

The negotiations should restore Irans rights, particularly the right to enrich uranium inside the country, Putin noted.
