Nuclear talks extended until December: Iranian delegation source

As the time limit is approaching, there is a lot of speculation in the media around the possible extension of talks on Iranian nuclear issue.


VIENNA, November 24 (Sputnik) The negotiations onIransnuclear programhave been extended untilmid-December, a source inthe Iranian delegation told Sputnik Monday.

The so-calledP5+1group ofinternational mediators comprising representatives fromRussia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, Germany, and Tehran officials arrived inVienna onNovember 18, hoping toreach a deal guaranteeing apeaceful natureofIranian nuclear program byMonday. The deadline set duringprevious roundof negotiations is now less than12 hours away.

As the time limit is approaching, there is a lot ofspeculation inthe media aroundthe possible extension oftalks. Chinas Xinhua news agencyreportedearlier today that the deadline forconsultations may be extended untilJuly 1, 2015.

The group ofsix world powers wants Iran toscale back its nuclear program tomake sure Tehran will not build an atomic weapon, while Iran assures the programs purpose is absolutely peaceful.
