Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi to join P5+1 talks Monday morning: Source

The Foreign Minister of China is likely to participate in the final talks on Iranian nuclear program in Vienna, a diplomatic source revealed.


VIENNA, November 23 (Sputnik) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will join the P5+1 talks inVienna onMonday morning, a diplomatic source told Sputnik Sunday.

"Wang Yi is expected onMonday morning," the source said.

UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will reportedly return toVienna onSunday tocontinue the talks ontheIranian nuclear program.

Russian Foreign MinisterSergei Lavrovis also expected toarrive inVienna onSunday evening totake part inthe final roundof talks.

The deadline forsigning a comprehensive long-term deal ontheIranian nuclear programexpires onMonday.

The West has accused Iran ofdeveloping nuclear weapons underthe guise ofa civilian nuclear program, which has been repeatedly denied byTehran officials, who claim the country's nuclear development has a peaceful nature and is aimed atsatisfying Iran's energy needs.

During talks inGeneva inNovember 2013, theP5+1group, which includes representatives ofRussia, theUnited States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Germany, agreed tostrike a long-term nuclear deal withTehran, guaranteeing the peaceful nature ofthe Iranian nuclear program, byJuly 2014. The deadline forthe deal was later extended toNovember 24.

The final roundof the nuclear talks began inthe Austrian capital onTuesday.
