Russia says fresh political impetus is needed for Iran and the P5+1 group of world powersto reach an agreement over Tehrans nuclear energy program.Without a new impetus, it would be extremely hard to achieve a result, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told journalists on Thursday.
Russias chief negotiator said it was difficult to reach an agreement but stressed that it would be a serious mistake to miss the chance of a deal.
He also said none of the parties to the ongoing nuclear talks wanted to prolong the negotiations.
On Tuesday, Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany sat down in Vienna for the last round of nuclear talks before the November 24 deadline comes to an end.
The talks continued for the third consecutive day in the Austrian city on Thursday to work out a final deal aimed at ending the longstanding standoff over the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program.
Sources close to the Iranian negotiating team say the main stumbling block in the way of resolving the Western dispute over Irans nuclear energy program remains to be the removal of all the bans imposed on the country, and not the number of centrifuges or the level of uranium enrichment.
Tehran wants the sanctions entirely lifted while Washington, under pressure from the pro-Israeli lobby, insists that at least the UN-imposed sanctions should remain in place.
