China says joint efforts with Russia underway to lift anti-Iran sanctions
TEHRAN (Tasnim) A Chinese foreign ministry official reaffirmed Beijings support for Irans peaceful nuclear program, saying his country, along with Russia, pushes for the removal of Western sanctions imposed on Iran.

We are trying with Russia to secure the final (nuclear) agreement between Iran and the (Group) 5+1 and make the (anti-Iran) sanctions removed, Assistant Chinese Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang said in a meeting with Irans Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian, in Tehran on Monday.

China and Russia are two members of the sextet of world powers also including the US, Britain, France and Germany - that are in talks with Iran to hammer out a final deal to end a decade of impasse over Tehrans peaceful nuclear energy program.

Elsewhere, the Chinese diplomat hailed Irans influential role in the region, and proposed that Tehran, Beijing and Moscow establish a mechanism to hold regular talks on the regional developments.

He also voiced Chinas preparedness to contribute to reconstruction of Syria and Iraq.

The Iranian diplomat, for his part, said the joint efforts by Iran, China and Russia helped prevent Syria from turning into a new Libya.

Amir Abdollahian further hailed as successful the joint policy adopted by Tehran, Beijing and Moscow towards crisis-torn Syria, and called for continuation of those efforts.

Syria's war that started in 2011 has killed close to 200,000 people and forced more than 3 million refugees to flee the country, according to the United Nations.
