Speaker of Russian Duma arrives in Tehran

Tehran, Nov 16, IRNA — Speaker of Russian State Duma Sergei Naryshkin heading a parliamentary delegation arrived in Tehran late Sunday.
 Upon his arrival at Mehrabad Ariport, he was welcomed by Vice Speaker Mohammad Hassan Torabifard.

Chairman of Majlis National Security and foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi was also present in the welcoming ceremony.

Naryshkin is scheduled to hold talks with Iranian officials on avenues to develop economic cooperation as well as major international issues.

Meanwhile, he will confer with his Iranian counterpart, Majlis Speaker, Ali Larijani tomorrow.

Advisor to Majlis Speaker for International Affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam has earlier said Naryshkin’s two-day visit is taking place at the invitation of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a bid to enhance ties in political, economic, social and parliamentary fields.

During his stay, the Russian speaker is to hold several meetings with senior Iranian officials, including the Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, he said.
