VIENNA, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- Iran and the world six powers (P5+1) will engage in a new round of talks over the Iranian nuclear drive on Tuesday in Vienna amid expectations that the Nov 24 deadline would be extended to give more time for efforts aiming to clinch a historic deal to close this file.
The new talks are to be held just two days ahead of the anticipated meeting of the Governors Council of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to discuss a report on Tehran's abidance by the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) provisions.

Meanwhile, the Austrian Foreign Ministry welcomed in a statement the convention of the negotiation meeting in Vienna.

"Austria has continuously advocated a diplomatic solution between all concerned parties and welcomes and supports the continuation of these talks," said in a statement.

The five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (the P5+1) want Iran to scale down its nuclear activities. In return Tehran, which denies seeking to develop nuclear weapons, wants the lifting of UN and Western sanctions that are causing its economy major problems.

In July after months of intense talks, negotiators gave themselves four more months, until November 24, to strike a deal. Now there are speculations about a fresh extension.
