Former envoy blasts US for impeding N. deal
TEHRAN (FNA)- Former Iranian Ambassador to Berlin Alireza Sheikh Attar lashed out at the US for hindering attainment of a final nuclear deal with Iran.
"Today, the conditions are different from the past and the negotiations are mostly held between Iran and the US under an unwritten agreement because the US has been rocking the boat more than others," Sheikh Attar told FNA on Monday.

Meantime, he said that other members of the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) are no more blind followers of Washington's policy on Iran and some of them, including Russia, have even rushed to ink different contracts with Tehran, while others like China, France and Germany are waiting for the endorsement of other deals with Iran.

"Therefore, if the negotiations dont produce results in this round and are not extended, there will be no concerns since new horizons have opened for us due to our resistance," Sheikh Attar said.

The top nuclear officials of Iran and Russia in a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday signed an agreement on the construction of two new nuclear power plants for Iran.

The agreement was signed by Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and Head of Russia's Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko in the Russian capital.

Salehi, heading a ranking delegation, paid a daylong trips to Moscow on Tuesday.

Upon arrival in the Russian capital, Salehi told reporters that he is also due to "discuss mechanisms for nuclear fuel swaps" with the Russian side.

The contract was signed after Iran and the six major world powers held 9 rounds of nuclear negotiations after inking an interim agreement in Geneva on November 24, 2013, and have less than two weeks time to strike a final deal before the November 24 deadline.

Tehran and the six powers have already held one round of talks in Muscat, Oman, seven rounds in Vienna, and one more round in New York and on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The Geneva agreement took effect on January 20 and expired six months later on July 20. In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
