Foreign investors waiting for lifting of sanctions against Iran

Tehran, Nov 14, IRNA Chairman of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Mehdi Karbasian said foreign investors have begun the countdown for making investment in mines and mining sector of Iran and are waiting for the removal of sanctions against the country.
He told IRNA on Friday that there is the capacity of attracting several billion dollars in foreign investment in the country in the mines and mining sector in areas such as copper, iron, zinc, aluminum and rare mineral substances.
He said currently grounds are prepared for foreign investment in the said areas and foreign investors, especially the Westerners welcome such an idea.

Karbasian further remarked that certainly removal of unjust sanctions against Iran can play an outstanding role in increasing foreign investment in mines and mining sector.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Mining Industries Department of Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry had said earlier that the 11th government has paved the way for foreign investment in the field of mines and mining industry and has predicted incentives in this regard.

Seyed Mohamamd Fatemian noted that today the Iranian government has provided a proper opportunity for foreign investors and maintained the necessary infrastructures in the mines and mining sector.

Fatemian believes that mining sector due to enjoying God-given resources will be less affected by the sanctions and is more sustainable.
