Turkmenistan seeks oil/gas ties with Iran

TEHRAN Nov 11 (Shana)–Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Tehran has stressed the need for cooperation between his country and Iran in the oil and gas projects.
Ahmad Qorbanev discussed in a meeting with the managing-director of North Drilling Company (NDCO) more cooperation in the oil and gas sectors.

Iran’s Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh recently visited Turkmenistan and met with the Central Asian country’s president, foreign minister and vice-president for oil and gas affairs.

During the one-day visit, Zangeneh and the Turkmen officials stressed the need for broader economic cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan.

Since President Hassan Rouhani took office in August 2013, Iranian and Turkmen officials have regularly met to explore ways of further cooperation.

Iran has already voiced its readiness to export commodities as well as technical and engineering services to Turkmenistan.
