President congratulates Karate fighters' success

Tehran, April 25, IRNA - President Hassan Rouhani congratulated on Monday the Iranian male and female Karate teams for winning 5 medals in World Karate Championships.
In his message to the Karate teams as well as the Iranian nation and the sports community, President Rouhani expressed gratitude to the Karate fighters and their coaches for their hard work.
The 22nd Karate World Championship, which started last Wednesday with the participation of representatives from 116 countries in the city of Bremen, Germany, ended on Sunday evening by holding competitions between men's teams kumite.

In the final match, Iran defeated Germany, the host of competitions, and secured the gold medal.

This is the first time Iran's team kumite succeeded to win gold medal in a world championship tournament. The Iranian team won bronze medal in France 2012 and Spain in 2002.

Iran ranked sixth after winning one gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze at the Karate Championships in Bremen.
