Official: Amano report based on past unjustifiable practices

Tehran, Nov 8, IRNA Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, said on Saturday that the 18-page Iran report by the Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, is based on unjustifiable past procedures.

Kamalvandi told IRNA that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no problem because of its transparency and verification within the frameworks of its commitments but it should not be expected to offer any explanation beyond its commitments.

He said at a time when Iran is busy holding talks with the Sixtet and the principle of enrichment has alreay been admitted as Iran's right, the IAEA Chief's demand that Iran should stop enrichment is something odd.

The Iranian official went on to say that provisions of the additional protocol is not mandatory for Iran. "The report says that Iran has not yet stopped the enrichment activities, whereas all big powers (engaged in talks with Iran) have today recognized enrichment right for Iran."

"It seems that the IAEA acts based on the same unjustifiable practices in the past."
