EC secretary blasts US for supporting terrorists in Syria, Israel's crimes in Gaza

TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezayee lashed out at the US for its dual-track approach towards terrorism in the region, and said Washington supports the Israeli massacre of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the Takfiri terrorists in Syria.
"There is a dark background behind the false face of the US and Israel as the killings in Gaza and Syria are all supported by the US and if the ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) and Taliban terrorist groups that were created by them (the US and Israel) have now risen against them it is the outcome of their own wrongdoings," Rezayee said on Tuesday.

In September, Rezayee underlined that the anti-ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) coalition is just a political showoff to provide a pretext for increased presence of the US and its allies in the region.

"The Americans intend to do the same task that the ISIL could not fulfill and topple the governments in Iraq and Syria or in other words come to the region to interfere in the regional countries' affairs," Rezayee told FNA.

For the same reason, there is a deep doubt if the Americans are serious about campaign against the ISIL, he said, and added, "The regional countries, including Iran, Iraq and Syria should join hands and destroy terrorism in a durable fight against terrorism." Asked about the requests made by the western countries from Iran to join the anti-ISIL coalition, Rezayee said, "The Americans are not showing a behavior as they want to say that Iran has compromised resistance against the US, while they have not given any privilege to Iran."

Also in September, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei slammed the West, specially the US, for creating the Takfiri terrorists, and said that the main objective of the ISIL is to create differences among Muslim sects.

"The Takfiri groups are spreading atrocities in the West Asian region in a bid to sow discord among Muslims," the Supreme Leader said in a message to the Hajj pilgrims.

He noted that the enemy is pursuing to provide the Zionist regime with safety through igniting war among Muslims.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that unity among Muslims, the issue of Palestine and making a clear-cut distinction between the notion of pure Islam of the Prophet Mohammad and the American-style Islam are among the most important issues facing the present Muslim world.
