US still Irans enemy No. 1: IRGC

US still Irans enemy No. 1: IRGC
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - In a communique issued ahead of November 4 anniversary of US embassy seizure in 1979, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) slammed the US as the main center of sedition and corruption in the world and a source of hostility towards the Islamic Republic.
The US is still the Great Satan and the enemy number one of the (Islamic) Revolution and the Islamic Republic establishment, read part of the communique issued on Saturday.

The Iranian nation will steadfastly continue its unwavering battle against the hegemonic system and arrogance, spearheaded by the US, added the statement.

The IRGC also said a review of the grim realities in the region, particularly the problem of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists and the Takfiri groups in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon lays bare that the US, with its inherent hegemonic attitudes, is the center of sedition and corruption in the world.

It also urged Iranian people from all walks of life to mark the November 4 event with their massive presence.

On November 4, 1979, and in less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students that called themselves "students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)" seized the US embassy in Tehran.

The students justified the takeover by insisting that the compound had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who had taken control of the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic system.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (November 4), the Iranian nation, particularly the students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.
