Iran, Japan stress peaceful resolution of Syria crisis

Tehran, Nov 2, IRNA Iran's deputy foreign minister for Afro-Arab affairs and a visiting Japanese diplomat called for peaceful resolution of the Syrian crisis.
Hossein Amirabdollahian and Director-General of Japan Foreign Ministry's Middle Eastern and African Affairs' BureauTsukasa Uemura on Sunday underlined the continuation of Tehran-Tokyo talks to help resolve regional problems.
Any political solution to the Syrian crisis should be based on realities on the ground, he added in the meeting.

He reiterated that Iran is interested in peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis.

Iran is suspicious of the so-called anti-ISIL coalition led by US, he said, believing that their anti-terrorism approach is quite paradoxical, Amirabdollahian said.

He urged all sides involved in the Syrian crisis to help peaceful resolution of the crisis, end violence against civilians, facilitate return of refugees and dispatch humanitarian aids to the war-torn region.

The official called on all sides to respect the country's sovereignty.

All regional and international powers should back the Iraqi government and Army against terrorists, he added.

Tsukasa, for his part, said that unrests in the Middle East regions threatens the world security and all regional states.

Japan would continue dispatch of humanitarian aid to Syria and Lebanon and supports Iraq's government and Army against terrorists, he added.
