Turkey prolonging war in Syria: FM official

Tehran, Oct 28, IRNA A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official said Turkey's interference has prolonged the war in Syria.

In reaction to recent remarks by the Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan, he said Ankara's interference in Syrian internal affairs has unfortunately resulted in prolonging of the war and extensive human losses there.

The Syrian crisis would have settled long before if Turkey had stopped following ambitious goals, said the official.

Saying that increasing the existing ties with Turkey in different areas was important for Iran, he hoped making such remarks would not damage bilateral relations.

He also said Iran believed the Syrian issue would had come to an end three years before had Turkish officials stopped demanding a change of regime in Syria and supporting terrorist groups.

This is the reality with its bare face now, the official added.
