Commander warns Iran could react to hostile moves “anywhere”

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A top IRGC commander said on Monday that Iran’s patience with the occasional terrorist incidents orchestrated from outside the borders is not unlimited, and stressed that the country reserves the right to respond to terrorist moves anywhere.

“We tolerate these terrorist attacks against Iran until a specific time, but reserve the right to eliminate the terrorist moves at any location,” Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Monday.

He was referring to the previous attacks by the Pakistani-based terrorist groups against Iranian border guards, the most recent of which took the lives of four police officers in the eastern town of Saravan earlier this month.

The commander also deplored Pakistan’s lack of control over its shared borders with Iran, but underlined that the Islamic Republic has provided a good state of security along its own borders.

As regards the tense security conditions in neighboring Iraq, Brigadier General Pakpour underscored Iran’s close watch on the developments in the Arab country, noting that Iran has “intelligence supremacy deep inside the Iraqi soil.”

In relevant comment on October 16, IRGC Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami stressed that Iran fully monitors the hostile moves against the country, noting that such dominance covers the borders as well.

He said that enemies will never succeed to damage the Islamic Republic as long as the country’s security has its roots in the people.
