TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iran and Vietnam signed four cooperation agreements in a bid to expand bilateral relations in diverse areas, including economy, science and culture.
The agreements were signed during a meeting between Iranian Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Shariatmadari and a Vietnamese delegation, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, in Tehran.

During the meeting, an agreement on customs cooperation, which was signed by Head of Iran's Customs Office Masoud Karbasian and his Vietnamese counterpart, was among the four inked agreements.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in scientific, educational and research cooperation was also signed by the two countries ministers of science and technology.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shariatmadari said that during the Vietnamese delegations visit to Tehran, the two sides managed to take effective steps to promote bilateral relations.

He also said that in addition to the four important cooperation agreements signed between the two governments, a document would be signed between private sectors of the two countries.

The two sides also agreed to boost the value of Iran-Vietnam annual bilateral trade to $500 million and even higher based on a timetable, Shariatmadari said.
