US not capable to lead int’l compaign against terrorism: Larijani

Geneva, Oct 14, IRNA – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that the regional situation shows that the US is not capable to lead the international campaign against terrorism.
Larijani is currently on a visit to Geneva to participate in the 131st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

He made the remarks in a meeting with Algerian Parliament Speaker Abdul Qadir bin Saleh.

He said that the plan declared by US President Barack Obama to destroy the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is just a “joke”.

On the regular consultations between the Iranian and Algerian governments, Larijani said that the Islamic Republic of Iran always has benefited from consultations with the Algerian government.

Qadir bin Saleh, for his part, underscored that Algeria attaches great importance to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Algerian official emphasized the need for consultations with the Islamic Republic of Iran on the ongoing developments in Africa and Middle East.

Expressing concern over the current regional developments, he added the crisis would engulf the other regions across the globe.

Larijani left Tehran for Geneva on Sunday afternoon heading a parliamentary delegation and is slated to deliver a speech at the 131st IPU assembly on Tuesday.

Over 700 lawmakers from 141 countries, including 104 speakers and deputy speakers of parliaments have attended the conference from October 12 to 16.
