Zahedan to own largest solar power plant in Middle East
Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov., Oct 12, IRNA The largest and the first photovoltaic power plant in Iran and the Middle East with 20 megawatt power will be built in Zahedan soon, a member of the board of directors of Iranian Wind Energy Scientific Association announced.


 
Gholamreza Sargolzaei told IRNA that the most advanced European technologies and systems will be used in this power plant.


He pointed to the measures taken so far for the construction of the power plant such as gaining environmental permit, feasibility permit from Energy Ministry, allocation of at least 50 hectares of land, permission to be connected to the provincial electricity network, receiving finance and time schedule for the implementation of the plan.

Sargolzaei said according to projections made so far, the first phase of the plan will become operational one year after launching and the second phase in two years time.

Absence of sound pollution, no need for nationwide electricity network, no need for water, saving costs, long life and low maintenance requirement are among advantages of the solar power plants, he said.
