Iran condemns terrorist attacks in Iraqi capital

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iran's Foreign Ministry roundly condemned terrorist attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Saturday which left at least 50 people dead and scores more wounded.
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham, in a statement, condemned the terrorist explosions in Iraq, which led to the martyrdom of "a number of innocent people, and expressed sympathy with the victims families.
She emphasized that the inauspicious phenomenon of terrorism is a result of some powerful states wrong policies in the past and the continued instrumental use of the issue of terrorism.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman also expressed the hope that the Iraqi people and government would be able to overcome the inhuman phenomenon of terrorism through unity and solidarity and by relying on their national capacities.

The statement came after at least 50 people have been killed and scores more wounded in a series of bombs in Baghdad.

At least 38 people were killed in two car bombings in western Baghdad on Saturday night. A third blast caused by a suicide bomber killed another 12 people and injured 40 others.
