Zarif, Ashton, Kerry to meet in Vienna next week: Michael Mann

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Michael Mann, the spokesman for the European Union Foreign Policy Chief, said Catherine Ashton, Irans foreign minister and US secretary of state are scheduled to hold a trilateral meeting in Vienna next week.
In the framework of the E3/EU+3 negotiations with Iran on its nuclear programme, which she leads, High Representative Ashton will on Tuesday October 14 hold bilateral talks in Vienna with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Following the bilateral meeting, they will be joined by US Secretary of State John Kerry for a trilateral meeting on Wednesday, October 15, Michael Mann said.
He added that the meetings form part of the intensive diplomatic efforts by the E3/EU+3 (Russia, China, US, France, Britain and Germany) under the leadership of High Representative Ashton, to reach a comprehensive solution by the 24 November deadline, under which Iran would reassure the international community about the exclusively peaceful nature of its nuclear programme.

A spokesman for the Austrian Foreign Ministry earlier on Wednesday told RIA Novosti that Iran and the six nations negotiating with the Islamic Republic on its nuclear program may meet in Vienna on October 15.

Spokesman Martin Weiss said the meeting will most likely (take place) on Wednesday, October 15, but its format is yet unknown.

Nuclear negotiators representing Iran and the Group E3+3 (also known as G5+1 or P5+1) wrapped up the latest round of talks on Tehrans civilian nuclear program in New York on September 26 without making any tangible progress.

On November 24, 2013, the two sides signed an interim nuclear deal in the Swiss city of Geneva.

Based on the interim deal, the world powers agreed to suspend some non-essential sanctions and to impose no new nuclear-related bans in return for Tehran's decision to freeze parts of its nuclear activities.

In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 in the hope of clinching a final deal.
