Iran urges more intl. support for Afghan refugees

TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (MNA) Security Enforcement Deputy of Interior Ministry has urged more international aids for refugees in Iran.

Addressing 150 member states of Executive Committee of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Deputy Minister for Security Enforcement Hossein Zolfaghari said Iran has been hosting Afghan refugees for three decades and seeks to facilitate their return to Afghanistan.

Strategy of mobilization of resources and supports from states to reach proper solutions for improvement of Afghan refugees conditions, paving the way properly for their return and reintegration into their society is the appropriate ground for cooperation in solving problems of refugees, stated Zolfaghari to the UNHCR meeting in Geneva.

He called for more assistance from donor countries and the UNHCR to make strategic solutions possible, as current process of aids cannot even come close to the reality of increasing needs of refugees.

Decade-long of Afghanistan independence and world community efforts have yet to make it possible for longing Afghans to get back to their homeland, as they dont see facilities to reintegrate into Afghanistan.

Zolfaghari emphasized that Iran wants international community to continue and enhance their aids for foreign refugees in Iran.

He also called for improvement of infrastructures in Afghanistan to encourage voluntarily return of Afghans to their country.
