Iran to hold 9th Annual Clinical Oncology Congress
TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (MNA) Iran will hold the 9th Annual Clinical Oncology Congress from 8-10 October in Tehran.

The 9th Annual Clinical Oncology Congress with a focus on genitourinary system, gastrointestinal system and breast cancers will take place from 8-10 October at the National Library & Archives of Iran.


Dr. Samira Azghandi, the executive secretary of the congress, said, the aim of holding this congress is to update the knowledge of colleagues. In addition to Iranian specialists, a number of international specialists from Austria, France and Germany will take part in this congress and discuss the new methods of chemotherapy and some other topics.


Prevalence of cancer as well as its growth rate is much higher in Iran than any other countries, Dr. Azghandi continued. Due to the cutting-edge technologies concerned with cancer, each year this congress evaluates the state of the country in regard to such technologies.


Ninety percent of patients with cancer require other treatments in addition to surgery, she explained. This congress endeavors to propose the most economical and appropriate treatments to our fellow doctors.


Prof. Alberto Bossi, head of the Urology and Prostate Brachytherapy Unit at the Gustav Roussy Cancer Institute in France, is one of the special speakers in the 9th Annual Clinical Oncology Congress.
