Iran to host world's super wide-body airplane tomorrow

Iran to host world
TEHRAN (FNA)- The world's largest wide-body passenger plane, Airbus 380, is due to land at Iran's International Imam Khomeini Airport near Tehran on Tuesday afternoon, an official announced on Monday.
"The world's largest wide-body airplane will land at Imam (Khomeini) airport at 16:00 (local time) tomorrow and the airport will be the world's 42nd among thousands of airports that will host the plane," Director-General of Imam Khomeini airport Saeed Chalandari told FNA today.

Noting that the presence of Airbus 380 passenger plane in Iran has been coordinated upon a request by the Emirates Airline company, he said, "The high number of the Iranians' international flights has pushed the Airline to transfer a larger volume of passengers and therefore, the Airbus 380 has been selected to fly to Iran."

Chalandari underlined that all infrastructures at Imam Khomeini airport are ready for the landing.

Airbus 380 is the largest passenger aircraft. It carries 555 passengers in three classes and 840 passengers in single class; it is capable of non-stop flight in a range of 8,000 nautical miles. Its maiden flight was first in April 2005.

In 2002 the company launched its production and in May 2004 its commercial model entered the production line. A380 was priced at $296-316mln (in 2006 prices).
