Tabriz, East Azarbaijan prov, Sept 18, IRNA � Special Assistant to the President on Ethnic and Religious Minorities Ali Younesi said it was the basic policy of the Iranian government to respect of the right ethnic and religious minorities.
Talking to IRNA here in northwestern country on Thursday, he said the government is committed to carry out measures to retain the confidence of minorities and safeguard their rights.
He further referred to the effective role the Iranian religious and ethnic minorities have been playing in determining the nation's destiny.

The presidential assistant also expressed happiness over the favorable situation of religious minorities in Iran and said they could comfortably act according to their religious and have their own rituals.
