Tehran opens 15th Mobarak Intl. Puppet Theater
The 15th Mobarak International Puppet Theatre Festival has started its programs with a happy colorful carnival in the capital city of Tehran.
A huge number of ordinary people, children and artists with a variety of small and big dolls as well as colorful balloons celebrated the carnival held on September 13.

The 4.30 meter tall symbolic puppets of the festival Amou Nowruz (Uncle Nowruz) and Naneh Sarma (Mother Frost) shined at the carnival.

Amou Nowruz brings gifts for the children, much like his Western counterpart Santa Claus. Naneh Sarma, however, is the symbol of winter, who is sometimes called Lady of the Cold Spells.

Mobarak was first unveiled as the world's tallest puppet during the Iranian Art Week held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in December 2010.

The official ceremony of the 15th Tehran International Puppet Theatre Festival was held at the City Theatre Complex.

Veteran Irans puppeteer, screenwriter and director Marziyeh Boroumand, Iranian cinema and TV actress Fatemeh Motamed Aria, and the famous Iranian actress and representative of UN Mahtab Keramati were among the participated artists.

The 15th Tehran International Puppet Theatre Festival-Mobarak will run until September 21 in 11 theatre halls andgrounds of City Theatre Complex, Milad Tower and Niavaran Park.
