NISOC to drill wells in South Azadegan
TEHRAN Sept 14 (Shana)--National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) has started operations for drilling 40 development wells in South Azadegan oil field which Iran shares with Iraq, an NISOC official said.
In line with Petroleum Ministrys strategic policy for the development of joint fields,... the drilling of 40 wells in South Azadegan has been commissioned to this company, Mohammad-Mehdi Zarei said.


He said that two drilling rigs have already started operating there and that a third one is being moved to the site.
Zarei said South Azadegan is the most important joint oil field in Iran, adding that 10 drilling rigs are to spud wells there.
He estimated the drilling of 40 wells to last two years.

South Azadegan field is expected to produce 320,000 b/d of oil and 197 mcf/d of gas in the first phase of development.
