Iran incredibly loses to Poland in FIVB World Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran lost to host Poland 3-2 (25-17, 25-16, 24-26, 19-25, 16-14) at the packed Atlas Arena in Lodz, while the Persians could have won the match.

Polands Mariusz Wlazly smashed a personal best of 28 points to stand above all scorers, while teammate Michal Kubiak earned exactly half of those points - 14.

The two most prolific contributors Mohammad Mousavi and Mojtaba Mirzajanpour top scored Iran, with 15 tallies each.

Iran lost the first two sets 26-17 and 25-16 but came back to the game and defeated Poland 26-24 and 25-19 in the third and fourth sets.

The Iranian team put its opponent under pressure in the fifth set and had a match ball in 14-13 but mistake changed the tide (15-14).

Iran will meet Serbia on Sunday and must be hopeful the already-qualified France defeats Poland 3-0 to have a chance to book a place in the last six.
