Nuclear deal difficult but possible : Iranian MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) A senior Iranian lawmaker said Iran and world powers could reach an agreement on Tehrans peaceful nuclear energy program during the upcoming talks in New York.
Reaching a final agreement is a difficult job but it is possible nonetheless, Vice-Chairman of the Iranian Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour told the Tasnim News Agency.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to reach a deal and it is the US that must quit its excessive demands so that everyone will benefit from the agreement, Haqiqatpour said.

The senior Iranian MP also expressed the hope that the recent differences between the United States and Russia (over Ukraine) will not affect the nuclear negotiations.

He added that the forthcoming nuclear talks will be held at the level of foreign ministers.

The next round of negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on Tehrans nuclear program is scheduled to be held in New York on September 18.

Last November, the two sides signed an interim deal in Geneva, which took effect on January 20 and expired six months later on July 20. In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach common ground on a number of key issues.
