Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA – Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani and visiting Danish Foreign Minister Martin Lidegaard in a meeting on Monday called for cooperation in international campaign against terrorism.
Shamkhani warned against manipulation of fight against terrorism by world powers.
Fighting terrorism should not violate national sovereignty of the regional states, he said.
He urged the world powers not to manipulate fighting terrorism as a political tool to dominate the region.
Iran has always been a pioneer in fight against terrorism and would continue with assistance for the Palestinian resistance to the Israel occupation, Shamkhani said.
He made clear that Tehran would extend its support for the Syrian and Iraqi nation against terrorism.
Followers of various sects of Islam should take stand vigilantly against divisive plots and the Islamic Republic of Iran urges them to develop solidarity and the spirit of co-existence, Shamkhani said.
Danish foreign minister said for his part that terrorism as a threat against Europe which can destabilize the entire world.
All regional states should help elimination of terrorism in the region and block terrorists access to military and financial resources, he added.
Lidegaard hailed Iran’s key role in the fight against terrorism.
He is the first Danish foreign minister to visit Iran since 2005. He arrived in Tehran on Sunday.
