Industrial units create 2.5 million jobs

TEHRAN Sep. 2 (Shana)--90 thousand industrial units across the country have created jobs for 2.5 million people which could be increased by additional 300 thousand by removing the hurdles production sector faces.
Minister of industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh made the remarks, adding the aforementioned units include 81 thousand small units each with less than 50 workforce and one million employee aggregated and middle and large industries which have created jobs for 1.5 million people.


According to the minister, small units generate 18 percent of value-added in industry sector while middle and large industrial units are responsible for generating the rest.

Nematzadeh noted that by injecting liquidity to 20 percent of those units operating below their capacity and 40 percent of closed units it will be possible to create jobs for 150 thousand people.
Elsewhere in his remarks he said without banks' contribution, private sector will find it difficult to put behind recession noting industry and mine sectors need 1500 trillion rials facilities to get out of recession.
