TEHRAN, Sep. 01 (MNA) Irans president in World Mosque Day Confab in Tehran has said Zionist propaganda to promote Islamophobia and Iranophobia is baseless.In World Mosque Day Conference in Tehran, Hassan Rouhani pointed to occupation of Al-Quds by Israeli regime and addressed the meeting saying that no extremism has ever existed among Iranians and Islamic rules; we are always moderate, not leaning to left or right.
President Rouhani stated that the enemy has always sought to dominate peoples minds to hunt their beliefs along with their lands.
He went on saying that mosques are the best places for educating people to recognize right from wrong and pointed to al-Aqsa Mosque in Al-Quds, the first qibla mosque and holy place towards which Muslims used to perform prayers; later Mecca became Muslims qibla and held that Muslims would not let it remain under Zionists occupation. "Al-Quds is loved by all Muslims and it is our goal to perform prayers there."
We will help Palestinians and we believe that victory will be for the Muslims, said Rouhani.
He further pointed to recent regional developments and said that "some mad, wild groups kill children and women, and destroy mosques or churches in the name of Islam but they are ruled by some mercenaries."
Iran proposed WAVE (World Against Violence and Extremism) and it was approved in UN General Assembly, said Rouhani addressing the conference and believed its approval in the UN as a success for the Iranian nation.
He also made hints to Zionist propaganda against Iran and Islam promoting Iranophobia and Islamiphobia calling the campaign baseless; we are moderate people and Islam is the religion of moderation not leaning towards left or right, added Rouhani.
August 21 marks the anniversary of the 1969 al-Aqsa Mosque fire, the origins of which are still being disputed over 40 years after the incident occurred. The day is titled World Mosque Day in remembrance of the event.
