Tehran, Aug 24, IRNA -- The government has made significant achievements in the health sector during the past 12 months, said the health minister.Speaking in a ceremony held on National Doctors Day on Saturday, Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi expressed his satisfaction over cooperation between the government and Majlis on health issues.
He noted that funds required by the health sector have been made available, adding that Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani attaches special importance to supporting private and state-run companies involved in health sector.
The minister also said President Hassan Rouhani has paid considerable attention to the health sector since he took office.
Hashemi said based on the constitution, all groups of people should have equal access to health services, noting that the three branches of the government are responsible for realizing this target.
The Health Ministry can meet only 10 percent of peoples health requirements,? he said, adding that the cooperation of other organizations is very important and helps the government achieve its targets.
The minister stressed that efforts should be made to promote the culture of self-care.
Hashemi noted that the private sector will be encouraged to get involved in health-related projects.
He called on all physicians to earn and maintain the trust of people and said the performance of physicians should be closely monitored and those who violate the laws will be prosecuted.
Hashemi said last week the ground is prepared for the implementation of the second phase of Health Overhaul Plan.
He noted that infrastructures required for the successful implementation of the plan have been established.
Hashemi said the execution of Health Overhaul Plan, which is among the most outstanding plans undertaken by the government, has helped increase peoples satisfaction with the health system.
