US sticks to anti-Iran hostility: Iran cleric
A senior Iranian cleric says the United States has not abandoned its hostile policy against Iran despite severance of diplomatic ties more than three decades ago.
Thirty years ago, the late Imam [Khomeini] ordered the breakup of ties with the United States. But the leaders of this country have not abandoned wickedness, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami told worshippers at the weekly Friday Prayers in Tehran.

Tehran and Washington cut ties in 1979 after the US Embassy, which had turned into a center for espionage, was taken over by Iranian students.

Khatami said the United States seeks to dominate nations by showing willingness to sit with them at the negotiating table and making them do what it wants, adding that Washington has never been trustworthy.

Noting that the US government is making efforts to humiliate the Iranian nation, the cleric said, The Islamic establishment will never accept the dominance of foreigners.

On Wednesday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei pointed to the escalation of US pressures against Iran despite Tehrans direct talks with Washington over the nuclear issue since last year and said, All in all, it turned out that, contrary to some peoples perceptions, negotiations do not help anything.
As long as the present circumstances, namely the US animosity and the hostile remarks by the US Congress and administration against Iran, continue, interaction with them has no grounds, Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
The US government has missed no chance to ramp up pressure on Iran under baseless pretexts including the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program.
