New Iraqi PM vows to form cabinet next week
TEHRAN (Tasnim) The new Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said he would form his cabinet in a week.
I will name the new cabinet ministers next week and no delay would be accepted Abadi told the independent news agency the Eighth Day.
The new premier stressed that the ministers will be named on the basis of competence, integrity, and good reputation.

We welcome the participation of all political forces in the next government in order to build a firm democratic process, added Abadi.

The Iraqi President Fouad Massoum on Monday officially commissioned Haider al-Abadi, the Shiite coalition's nominee for prime minister, to form the next government.

Massoum refused to nominate the country's two-time Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for a third term in office.

Maliki has resisted calls to drop his bid to lead the country and he gave a tough speech on television indicating he would not cave in to pressure.

Iraq's highest court has also ruled that he could retain his position because his bloc is the biggest in the country's parliament, according to state television.
