Intelligence minister calls for Iranians
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alawi in a message called for the massive participation of the Iranians in the upcoming International Quds Day rallies across the country.
"On the International Quds Day we will once again show the world Muslims' unity and unified power to the global arrogance and occupiers of the Noble Quds," Alawi said in his message on Wednesday.

The Iranian intelligence minister said that despite lapse of more than two decades, the echo of Quds is still heard and the Muslim Ummah will pay attention to the call of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and commemorate the day.

On Tuesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also called for the participation of the Iranians in the Quds Day rallies.

"The more magnificent this year's Quds Day rallies are held, the greater support they will indicate for the oppressed Palestinian nation," President Rouhani said.

He noted that people's massive turnout will also give this clear message to Israel that its aggressions, massacre and usurpation will all end in failure and defeat.

"The Iranian nation has always been behind the oppressed people, specially the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza," President Rouhani said.

The Iranian president expressed the hope that the Palestinian nation and resistance will end Israel's brutalities.

Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 17 consecutive days, killing at least 718 people and injuring more than 4,000 others.

According to the UN, 77% of the victims in Gaza are civilians and defenseless people.

International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas.

Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held every year on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.

The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.
