TEHRAN (Tasnim) A senior Iranian commander condemned Israeli atrocities against the defenseless people of the Gaza Strip and called on anti-Zionist groups in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria to sign a joint security and defense pact to counter the threats posed by the Israeli regime.In order to counter foreign threats, particularly the actual threat posed by the Zionist regime (Israel), it is needed that popular resistance groups in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria sign a security pact and consider any act of aggression (by Israel) against each of the countries to be an act against their own country, Commander of Irans Basij (volunteer) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi stated.
He went on to say that by signing a security accord, the resistance groups will take united action against aggressors.
Addressing a gathering of Iranian sports officials, athletes and delegates from Islamic groups in Tehran on Monday, Naqdi commented on the high military spending of certain Islamic countries and censured their inaction on the killing of innocent people in Gaza.
If any of the region's oil-rich Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, and Qatar decides to withdraw their money from Western Banks, the Zionist regimes attacks on the people of Gaza will end shortly, he added.
In relevant comments on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Western countries and many Arab or Muslim states have unfortunately remained silent about the Israeli crimes and the countries reactions did not match the depth of catastrophe.
On July 8, the Israeli regime launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip. After 10 days of bombarding the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
More than 600 Palestinians have been killed and more than 3,600 have been wounded in the 15-day Israeli onslaught.
Some 70 percent of the casualties in Gaza have been civilians, according to UN estimates.
