The U.N. Security Council has expressed concern on Sunday for the growing number of casualties in Gaza and issued an appeal for an immediate ceasefire, according to Agence France-Presse.
The members of the Security Council express serious concern about the growing numbers of casualties, Rwandan Ambassador Eugene Richard Gasana, whose country chairs the 15-member council, said.

The members of the Security Council call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, Gasana added.

The U.N. call came shortly before a family of nine Palestinians, including seven children, was killed by an Israeli airstrike on their home in Gaza.

Meanwhile, 'more than 10' Gaza militants killed infiltrating south Israel, , the armys official spokesman said, according to AFP.

Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel through two tunnels from north Gaza. IDF intercepted and killed more than 10 terrorists, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner wrote on his official Twitter feed.

The deaths bring to 501 the number of Palestinians killed since Israel launched an assault on the Gaza Strip two weeks ago.

Also on Monday, Gaza medics reported the death of 16 other Palestinians killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Qudra said they were killed in a strike in southern Khan Yunis during the bloodiest day in Gaza in years.
