Iftar brings UNHCR friends together

Iftar brings UNHCR friends together, UNHCR staff together with recently appointed Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Hossein Zolfaghari

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, a time to share and extend the hand of brotherhood and kindness , UNHCR and its main Governmental counterpart the Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs (BAFIA) jointly hosted an Iftar dinner on the 17th of July 2014, bringing Government, UN and Diplomatic officials together in a friendly environment.
The Iftar gathering was honored with the presence of recently appointed Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Hossein Zolfaghari who was warmly welcomed by UNHCR Representative Mr. Sivanka Dhanapala, “We are very happy to make the acquaintance of Mr. Zolfaghari at this special event and have the pleasure of his company. We look forward to further enhancing our work together under his leadership”.
Mr. Dhanapala and Director General of BAFIA Dr. Kazemi were pleased to have colleagues from various partner Government organizations attending the event, namely; colleagues from the Ministry of Interior, BAFIA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, State Welfare Organization, Technical and Vocational Training Organization & Forest, Rangelands and Watershed Management Organization. Also attending was the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Iran, Ambassadors and other diplomatic officials. The event served as a great opportunity for the friends of “refugees” to get together, and reflect on the importance of supporting refugees and the need to work hand in hand to assist them with their needs.
The Islamic Republic of Iran together with UNHCR and partners, extend refugees services in the fields of education, health and livelihood, rendering them with the necessary tools to reconstruct their country once they opt for return.
May our hands and hearts remain united and dedicated in offering such humanitarian assistance to those in need whilst hoping for a better future.
