Former prosecutor Mortazavi to be tried after Ramadan

Former prosecutor Mortazavi to be tried after Ramadan
Tehran, July 17, IRNA - Tehrans former prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi will be tried after a group of workers filed complaint against him.
Mostafa Tork Hamedani, the workers lawyer, told IRNA on Wednesday that Mortazavi will appear in the court after the end of holy month of Ramadan (July 29).
Hamedani said that the complaint was lodged against Mortazavi in connection with his activities during his tenure as the head of the Social Security Organization (SSOI) of Iran.

The SSOI was brought to spotlight after former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed Mortazavi as its head in early 2012.

The appointment was met with sharp reactions from conservative lawmakers who argued that Mortazavi did not hold the appropriate qualifications for the post.

Last year, the Majlis had launched an extensive investigation into alleged cases of corruption in the organization.
