TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari underscored the country’s special and influential role in the region and the world.
“The world needs the Islamic Republic of Iran and we are in a highly special and important situation that enables us to leave important impacts on the world,” Sayyari said, addressing a gathering in Jask port in the Persian Gulf, Southern Iran, on Sunday.
He also underlined the Iranian coasts’ significant role in the further improvement of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s situation.
Elsewhere, Sayyari described Naval might and power as well as regional security as highly important issues, and said, “We are ready to establish security in the region for trade and exploiting resources and protecting the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the world.”
In relevant remarks in June, Sayyari underlined the necessity for increasing security levels in Iran’s coastal areas, reminding the country’s huge revenues gained from exporting goods through its waters, specially in the South.
“We should pay attention to security in coastal areas to make sufficient use of these coasts,” Sayyari said in an interview with Iran’s state-run TV.
Noting that most of the country’s imports and exports are made from the Southern coasts, he said, “The most important waterways which link the world are in the Strait of Hormuz and over one third of the world’s trade (exchanges) is made in this area.”
Sayyari underscored that the reason for the world arrogant powers’ attention to this important region is their greed for dominance over it, and said Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also emphasized on the establishment of security in the Persian Gulf region since the Islamic Republic is considered as the heart of the world.
