Iran Majlis summons economy minister

Tehran, July 1, IRNA – Economy Minister Ali Tayebnia was summoned to the Majlis for the second time, said a senior parliamentary said.
Hossein Sobhaninia, a member of Majlis Presiding Board, said that Tayebnia will appear at Majlis on July 8 to respond an economic question put forward by Mohammad Hossein Asafari, a MP from Arak, said Tuesdayˈs edition of ˈIran Dailyˈ said in its Upside/Downside column

The summon comes as Jabbar Kochakzadeh, a member of Majlis Education Committee, said that at least 50 lawmakers have signed a motion to impeach the Minister of Science, Research and Technology Reza Faraji Dana.

The Majlis is gearing up to impeach two other ministers before the MPs go on two-week summer recess. The targets include Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian, and Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati.

Lawmakers have apparently presented the impeachment motions for Faraji Dana and Chitchian to the Majlis Presiding Board and seek to rally support for grilling Hojjati.
