TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani extended their congratulations to the national volleyball team over thrashing Poland and qualifying for the final round of the 2014 FIVB World League.

The Asian champions showed excellent consistency throughout the Sunday night match at Tehran's Azadi Stadium to rout their Polish guests 25-22, 25-20 and 25-22.

This was the two teams' second confrontation. On Friday, the Iranians trounced the Polish 3-1 in their first of the four FIVB Volleyball Men's World League matches.

With this win, Iran not only qualified for the final round of Group 1 in Florence, Italy, but also stood at the top of their pool with equal points (19) and sets ratio (1.375) with Italy, but with a better points ratio (1.055).

Iran has gathered 19 points from 10 matches. Italians stand the second with 19 points from a similar number of matches, but with a lower points ratio (1.010) as their sets ratio is similar to Iran (1.375). Brazil stand third with 11 points (with sets ratio of 0.773), and Poland are last with 11 points (with sets ratio of 0.682).

Iran and their 2012 World League champions, Poland, should now get prepared for their next two matches in Warsaw next week.

In their earlier world league confrontations this year, Iran had won two and lost two matches against Brazil.

Iran also lost two matches against Italy in Rome and won two others in Tehran.

The 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League is the 25th edition of the annual men's international volleyball tournament, played by 28 countries from 23 May to 20 July 2014. The Group 1 Final Round will be held in Florence, Italy.
