Iran trounce Poland in volleyball World League
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian national volleyball team thrashed their polish guests 3-1 in their first of the four FIVB World League confrontations at Tehran's Azadi Stadium on Friday evening.
The Asian champions lost the first set 25-23, but showed such a powerful performance and harmony in the rest of the match that they rallied to win the second, third and fourth sets against the polish with rather surprising point differences (25-16, 25-11 and 25-19) this evening.

This was the first of the two teams' four confrontations in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Mens World League.

Iran are now only one step away from qualifying for the final round in Italy.

The two teams should now go to prepare for their second match in Tehran on Sunday afternoon.

In their earlier world league confrontations this year, Iran had won two and lost two matches against Brazil.

Iran also lost two matches against Italy in Rome and won two others in Tehran.

Iran now stand the second in their group with 16 points from 9 games and right behind the Italians who have gathered 19 from 10 matches. Poland stand third with 12 points from 9 and Brazil are last with 11 points from 10 matches.
