Fuel conservation a priority, Zanganeh
TEHRAN June 25 (Shana)--Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has said in order to prevent wasting fuel consumption in the country knowledge-based companies are expected to provide appropriate solutions.
Visiting an exhibition held by knowledge-based companies here on Tuesday, Zanganeh said Petroleum Ministry was ready to support fuel conservation projects, adding knowledge-based companies could play a crucial role in the area.



He added upstream activities, fuel conservation and project management are three priorities of the Petroleum Ministry in oil industry.
Zanganeh stated that energy intensity rate in the country was high noting the country consumes as much as 90 billion dollars of fuel annually of which a great part is paid by the government as subsidy.
Elsewhere in his remarks he called on domestic companies to give priority to quality, cost andtime-framewhen they are involved in implementation of their projects.
He noted that in the manufacturing sector, oil industry needs 10 essential items includingwell-boreand wellhead equipment and rotating machinery, adding Petroleum Ministry has offered manufacturing of the equipment to domestic companies and has set a two-year period to this end.

According to Zanganeh, Petroleum Ministry will halt imports of theseequipmentwhen domestic companies could stabilize manufacturing of the items.
Zanganeh said that designing, drilling and engineering are among the priorities in upstream sector of the country, and stated that drilling in Iran lags behind world standards and take 97 days.
According to Zanganeh, not enough attention is paid to the way projects are carried out by domestic companies, and noted domestic companies should take into account timetables and go ahead with the project on schedule.

Domestic companies should be able to compete with foreign companies and present qualified products to the market, Zanganeh concluded.
