Washington is confident that Iran and the six world powers can reach a comprehensive agreement on the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program by the interim deal deadline, says a US official.
We are all focused on July 20. I think everyone in the P5+1 agrees and I think Iran agrees that it is not in anyones interest to decide today that an extension is warranted. We can get this done. It is possible to get it done. We should be focused on getting it, said a senior US State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, on Monday.
Our focus is to make as much progress as possible, and of course to reach an agreement by the 20th of July. Were ready to do whatever it takes to see if we can get to a comprehensive agreement, he added, the US Department of State reported on its website.
Iran has also said that it is seriously pursuing a final nuclear deal with the P5+1, adding that the agreement is within reach if the six world powers enter the next round of nuclear talks withlogic and realism.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council the United States, Russia, France, China and Britain - plus Germany will begin their next round of nuclear negotiations in the Austrian capital, Vienna on Tuesday.

The two sides have been discussing ways to iron out differences and start drafting a final deal that would end the Wests dispute with Iran over the countrys nuclear energy program.

Iran and the six countries reached an interim deal on November 24, 2013, in the Swiss city of Geneva. The six-month deal, which took effect on January 20, can be extended.

Under the deal, the six countries agreed to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period.
