Iran determined to solve Afghan refugees’ problems
TEHRAN, June 17 (MNA) – Iran’s minister of interior has said Islamic Republic of Iran is resolved to tackle the issue of Afghan refugees in Iran.


Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said that international organizations should facilitate volunteer return of Afghan refugees to their home country.

In a meeting with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees at the UN office in Geneva Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized on a permanent solution for the Afghan refugees. He told the meeting that Iran would exploit all possibilities to safeguard basic needs of Afghan refugees in Iran and make opportunities for them to access public health and education.

He called for international cooperation to organize refugees and said that “the first priority should be providing opportunities for the Afghan refugees to go back to their country.”

“Humanitarian efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran and all supports to the Afghan refugees in the country are unparalleled in the world,” said Rahmani Fazli, assenting that international organizations especially UNHCR should prepare facilities for volunteer return of Afghan refugees to their own country.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and representatives of countries participating in the meeting praised Iran for its efforts regarding the refugee issues.
