Irans first vice president says extremist and violent groups threaten the global peace.
Eshaq Jahangiri said in a meeting with Bolivian President Evo Morales on the sidelines of the 50th summit of the Group of 77 developing countries plus China in Santa Cruz, eastern Bolivia, on Saturday that terrorist groups threaten both regional and global peace and security.

The Iranian official was specifically referring to recent terrorist activities by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Iraq.

Extremists have caused many problems for the Iraqi people and committed many crimes in the country, he said.

The ISIL Takfiri terrorist group captured two provincial capitals in Iraq this week, namely Tikrit in the Salahuddin Province, and Mosul, Iraqs second largest city, in the northern province of Nineveh.

On June 13, senior Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a religious decree calling on people to take up arms and defend their country against the Takfiri militants.

The Iraqi army is currently battling the terrorists on the outskirts of the city of Muqdadiyah, situated northeast of Baquba, in Iraqs eastern province of Diyala.

The extremist terrorists have threatened to take their acts of violence to other Iraqi cities, including the capital, Baghdad.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jahangiri praised Bolivias stance on the conflict in Syria, saying that countries have now come to the conclusion that the crisis must be resolved through political and peaceful means.

Morales, for his part, stated that Tehran and La Paz are on the same front in their struggle against imperialism.

Cooperation between the two countries can have constructive results and the only party that is angry with this cooperation is global imperialism, he added.
